Graphite electrodes are mainly made of petroleum coke and needle coke, and coal tar is used as a binder. It is made by calcination, compounding, kneading pressing, roasting, graphitization and machining. According to the quality index of graphite electrode (electric current capability, it can be divided into RP, HP and UHP.

The resistivity of graphite electrode is an essential physical property index and a parameter to measure the electrical conductivity of the electrode. It is the resistance of a conductor to current when it passes through it. It IS NUMERically equal to the resistance of a conductor with a length of 1m and a cross-sectional area of 1m2 at a given temperature, reducing consumption in use. Normally measured by the voltage drop method, the size of resistivity can measure the graduation degree of graphite electrode. The lower the resistivity of graphite electrode, the higher the thermal conductivity, the better the oxidation resistance.
